Family Promise Launches Public Phase of $4.2 Million Campaign to Combat Homelessness

Family Promise Seeks Support to Expand Innovative Solutions for Families Experiencing Homelessness
Public Phase of $4.2 Million Campaign Launches with 76% of Goal Reached

PHOENIX, Ariz. (June 6, 2025) – Family Promise of Greater Phoenix, a nonprofit organization breaking the cycle of homelessness for families, announces the public launch of its “A Journey Home” capital campaign. The $4.2 million initiative aims to double the organization’s capacity, serving over 400 families annually across the Valley.

The campaign’s significance extends beyond the immediate fundraising goal. In Maricopa County, 37% of the population experiencing homelessness are families, and 67% of these families are single parents with 2-3 kids. Family Promise’s unique approach keeps entire families together, including their pets, and focuses on preventing homelessness before it starts.

“This campaign is about more than just providing shelter,” said Ted Taylor, CEO of Family Promise of Greater Phoenix. “It’s about creating a sustainable path to self-sufficiency for families, ensuring children have stable homes, and building a stronger community for all of us.”

The “A Journey Home” campaign will transform Family Promise’s ability to serve families experiencing homelessness across Greater Phoenix. Key initiatives include:

Securing and renovating Family Promise’s Earll Drive building as a central hub for operations and day center services, increasing efficiency and expanding support services.

Doubling shelter capacity across the Valley to meet the 219% increase in West Valley and 129% increase in East Valley homelessness.

Launching a comprehensive Prevention Program to help at-risk families avoid homelessness through rent assistance and early intervention services.

Strengthening the Graduate Program to support 80+ newly independent families annually with up to 2 years of post-graduation stability services.

Partnering with organizations to create new affordable housing opportunities, including Legacy Village, an innovative project converting shipping containers into bridge housing for families transitioning out of homelessness.

Family Promise’s model has proven effective, serving families at about half the cost of typical family shelters. Over 75% of every contribution to the campaign goes directly to work with families experiencing homelessness.

“We’re grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received so far, raising 76% of our goal,” Taylor said. “Now, we invite the public to join us in this crucial final phase. Your contribution will directly impact families in need, helping us expand our innovative programs and create lasting solutions to homelessness.”

The public can support the campaign through various means, including one-time gifts, multi-year pledges, and donations of appreciated assets. For more information on how to contribute, visit https://familypromiseaz.org/ajh-could-we-do-journey/.
