Josh Weiss

President and Founder

An industry veteran with more than 20 years experience in public relations and crisis communications, Josh Weiss is committed to strategic communications that are targeted, attention grabbing, and achieve client goals. He began honing his skills in high school and college, working at several radio stations including CBS Radio, where the list of high-level interviews included former U.S. Speaker Dick Gephardt and New York Governor George Pataki and rock stars Billy Joel and Don Henley.

After graduating from Kent State University, Josh worked for the Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives, crafting news coverage for 60 House members to explain key votes and win support from local voters. After the 2000 election, he moved to Arizona and held a variety of PR roles including national Director of Public Relations for Rural/Metro, a leading national provider of private ambulance and fire protection services, and Director of Communications and Public Affairs for American Traffic Solutions, a national leader in traffic safety cameras.

In 2012, Josh founded 10 to 1 Public Relations to help clients engineer the perceptions of others, aligning creative strategies with their long-term goals and facilitating purposeful relationship building with key members of the media, government, and the broader community. For more than 20 years he has helped hundreds of clients across a wide spectrum of industries and services to build positive brands and manage reputations. In the process, he has won numerous awards for his clients, his company, and himself.

Frequently chosen to speak at local, state, and national conferences on best practices and media relations techniques for both proactive and crisis communications, Josh has been published in several publications.

Laura Slawny

Vice President

Well-established as a results-driven communications expert and gifted storyteller, Laura Slawny brings more than 20 years of award-winning experience in public relations, content creation, and journalism to her work with 10to1 PR clients. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a unique talent for connecting with professionals to share inspirational stories about innovators, leaders, rising stars, and all those who play a role in the success of a business.

Laura’s passion for public relations evolved from her career in television as a news reporter, producer, and executive producer. Most of those years were spent shaping broadcast and digital news coverage in Arizona, Florida, and Illinois.  Her contributions during that time earned numerous accolades for journalistic excellence including multiple regional Emmy awards and the prestigious Edward R. Murrow award.

Her work in public relations includes guiding internal and external communications for clients and earning noteworthy local, regional, industry, and national media coverage in outlets such as Forbes, CNBC, HuffPost, and Reader’s Digest. She is excited to dedicate her talents and experience to strategically guide the 10to1 team towards long-term success.

Erica Fetherston

Vice President

Erica Fetherston has over a decade of experience in communications, public relations, social media management, digital marketing, public affairs, and political campaigns. As a Vice President at 10 to 1 Public Relations, Erica leads teams to create and execute strategic communications plans and campaigns to deliver results for clients in various industries. She is also part of the management team, where she takes a lead role in developing and implementing policies and procedures for the growing firm.

Prior to joining 10to1PR, Erica spent seven years leading the communications strategy at Local First Arizona, one of the state’s most well-respected organizations as well as the nation’s largest local business coalition. Erica graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with degrees in Philosophy and Political Science. While in college, she was bitten by the political bug and led a student organization focused on motivating young people to become involved in politics. She also ran a political campaign and completed several prestigious internships in Washington, D.C., and at the Arizona Legislature. Ultimately, her training in and passion for writing, critical thinking, and persuasion led Erica to a career in public relations and communications.

Erica has been involved with the Public Relations Society of America Phoenix Chapter and served as its President in 2022. She was the recipient of the PRSA Phoenix Percy Award in 2024, recognizing her efforts and contributions to the PR community. She is also a founding board member of Serve the Future, a startup nonprofit organization dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth in Phoenix build critical life skills through the game of tennis.

Rachael Clifford

Account Supervisor and Internship Program Manager

Rachael Clifford is a Senior PR Executive at 10to1PR, where she develops and executes strategic communications for clients across industries, including technology, commercial real estate, government, healthcare, and semiconductors. Since joining the firm in 2021 as a Senior Coordinator, Rachael has played a key role in delivering impactful public relations initiatives that enhance brand visibility and reputation.

Beyond her client work, Rachael manages 10to1PR’s internship program, mentoring and guiding emerging professionals in the field of PR. She is also an active leader in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), serving on the board since 2019 in roles such as Professional Development Chair, Treasurer, University Relations, and Mentorship Chair.

Rachael holds a degree in Strategic Communications from Northern Arizona University. She is passionate about storytelling, relationship-building, and driving meaningful engagement between organizations and their audiences.

Sofia Ashley

Senior PR Executive

Sofia Ashley is a Senior PR Executive at 10 to 1 Public Relations, where she leads teams and creates targeted communications strategies for clients in diverse industries, including technology, logistics, private equity, commercial real estate, and more. Since joining 10to1PR in 2022, Sofia has spearheaded results-driven PR campaigns that have boosted client visibility and strengthened market positioning.

Her award-winning PR campaigns have earned recognition from the Public Relations Society of America Phoenix Chapter, the Hermes Creative Awards, and the American Marketing Association. While at 10to1PR, Sofia has secured features for her clients in key publications such as the Associated Press, the BBC, Forbes, Fast Company, and more. Danielle Baker

Senior PR Executive

Danielle Baker brings over 25 years of expertise in broadcast news, entertainment, and public relations, seamlessly blending her journalistic insight with a passion for storytelling. She began her career in broadcast journalism, working with news organizations in New Mexico, Connecticut, and Arizona, before transitioning to public relations after a successful stint in California real estate.

A former producer, Danielle has a keen eye for crafting compelling narratives that capture the attention of local and national media outlets. Her ability to create “News You Can Use” pitches and fluency in speaking the language of producers and writers set her apart in the PR world. Danielle has successfully secured national coverage for her clients in highly regulated industries, retail, real estate, hospitality, and transportation and logistics, with placements in top-tier outlets such as Forbes.com, Newsweek, and NPR.

Danielle’s attention to detail and natural storytelling ability make her invaluable in amplifying her clients’ stories. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast from New Mexico State University.

Madeleine Budge

PR Executive

Madeleine was born and raised in Gilbert, Arizona. Madeleine’s diverse collection of experiences in the communication field has allowed her to work with organizations, people, and communities from around the country. In her role, she specializes in serving B2B companies in the technology, construction, and AI industries. She is exceptional at building and maintaining relationships with media contacts and outlets and exhibits strong interpersonal skills which she uses to engage and maintain relationships. Madeleine is an active networker and relationship maintainer who is often able to leverage connections by identifying opportunities that result in earned coverage for media campaigns. Her industry involvement extends beyond her corporate role. She serves as a Director at Large on the board of the Phoenix Chapter of The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and actively participates as a member in the Arizona Technology Council and Scottsdale Area Chamber of Commerce.

Before discovering an interest in Public Relations, Madeleine worked as a reporter for a local Arizona news outlet, Times Media Group. As an undergrad at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University, Madeleine spent three years working for ASU’s Marketing Department as a producer and digital content creator leading a team of multimedia journalists.

In addition, Madeleine spent time as a Public Relations Intern with Lambert & Co, a national PR agency, and worked as a community relations Intern with Valley Metro. She holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication with a focus in Public Relations and a Certificate in Sales and Marketing.

Emily Cardone

PR Executive

Emily Cardone serves as a Public Relations Account Executive at 10to1PR. Born and raised in Arizona, Emily graduated from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and a minor in Public Relations. Her passion for PR was sparked by a handful of inspiring professors at UofA. The professors’ enthusiasm motivated her to start exploring PR opportunities. Emily’s love for the field intensified during a public relations internship in Phoenix, where she worked with many local clients.

Her fresh perspective and creativity shine through in her work. She is developing engaging content and creating meaningful connections with media outlets. Emily thrives on the dynamic nature of PR, always eager to learn new industry trends and best practices. Her natural curiosity and dedication drive her to deliver strong results for clients. As a member of the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), she stays connected with industry peers and continues her professional development. Amanda Lundin

PR Coordinator

Amanda Lundin is a recent graduate from the Walter Cronkite School with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication, a concentration in Public Relations, and a minor in Dance. She has developed her PR skills through her college courses and previous internships, and is excited to enhance those skills at 10to1PR. Amanda loves learning about and staying up to date on new PR and media trends and she looks forward to growing as a communications professional.

Amanda is originally from Oregon and moved to Arizona to pursue her degree, where she now lives full-time. In addition to 10to1PR, Amanda also works as a teacher at a local Arizona dance studio. This experience is not only personally rewarding, but also strengthens her interpersonal skills and her ability to keep an audience engaged, which directly benefits the clients she works with.

Jonathan Melendez

PR Coordinator

Jonathan has always had a passion for storytelling. Growing up, he would find himself deeply invested in new storylines from watching his favorite local sports teams or from his favorite comic book or television series. He immersed himself in the stories of athletes on the team he followed and the characters he loved from his favorite movies, realizing he had a passion for discovering and sharing new stories with others. This pushed him to pursue a degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.

During his time at ASU, Jonathan created and shared meaningful stories as a journalist covering local high school sports teams and as a public relations specialist helping real-world clients at the Cronkite Agency. Through fellowships and internship experiences, Jonathan has also been able to work as a valuable contributor in bilingual public relations outreach for local organizations, earning media coverage from numerous local organizations around the valley, and he looks to continue honing and sharpening his skills as a Public Relations Coordinator at 10to1PR.

Alanna Goodman

PR Coordinator

Alanna Goodman was raised in Scottsdale, Arizona. She recently graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University. She majored in Journalism and Mass Communication with a certificate in Sales and Marketing. Alanna was also in Barrett, The Honors College and was inducted in the Kappa Tau Alpha Journalism Honors Society.

Alanna gained hands-on skills in multimedia storytelling, media relations and digital strategy through a variety of newsroom internships including television production, radio and photography. She was also a Broadcast Reporter for the Cronkite News program and covered health disparity and culture stories.

Alanna joined the ASU Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter, where she became inspired to join the public relations field. Alanna is passionate about storytelling and strategic communications, and enjoys telling impactful and creative stories. Alanna looks forward to challenging herself and is excited to continue learning and growing her public relations skills at 10 to 1 Public Relations.

Ella Johnson

PR Intern

Ella Johnson is currently a senior at Arizona State University and is pursuing a major in Communications at the Hugh Downs School of Communication. She is also finishing her minor in Tourism Development and Management at the Watts College of Public Service and Community Solutions.

She was born and raised in San Ramon, California, and moved to Arizona in recent years for her college education. Growing up, she always had a passion for communicating with others and hearing their stories. She knew her future career would entail storytelling and took an interest in PR. Throughout her college experience, she felt a natural pull to PR, specifically storytelling, which incorporated her love for communicating.

Ella has a diverse background in the hospitality industry and the service industry, which gives her insight on interpersonal communication. Through these experiences, she can find solutions quickly and utilize her crisis communication skills. Ella showcases adaptability and commitment to delivering outstanding results in fast-paced environments. Her goal is to bridge connections and create memorable experiences with all parties involved. Ella utilizes her coursework and hospitality experience to ensure the goals are met. She is interested in new ways to tell people’s stories and create positive experiences throughout the process. She is always eager to learn new sides of communication and public relations.
