Arizona Builders Alliance Selects OCJ Kids for Annual Pro-Bono Community Service Project

Construction association to renovate facility for nonprofit dedicated to changing the culture of foster care in Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (July 8, 2026) — The Arizona Builders Alliance (ABA), the state’s leading construction industry association, announces OCJ Kids as the recipient of its annual Community Service Project. The ABA will provide free construction and renovation services to support the nonprofit’s mission of serving Arizona’s foster and at-risk youth.

The project, spearheaded by the ABA’s Leadership Development Forum (LDF) class, will include the renovation of two rooms at OCJ Kids’ new community impact center, located at 1441 W. Glendale Ave., Phoenix, AZ 85021, a facility developed in partnership with City Church Phoenix. Renovations have begun, with completion expected by Fall 2026.

“Foster youth face some of the most difficult challenges imaginable, and the spaces where they receive support matter. Our members are not just building rooms — they are building environments where young people can feel safe, seen, and empowered,” said Kim Davids, President and CEO of Arizona Builders Alliance. “This is the power of the construction industry at its best, and we are proud to put it to work for Arizona’s most vulnerable kids.”

OCJ Kids is a Phoenix-based nonprofit committed to changing the culture of foster care in Arizona by providing opportunity, creating community, and fighting for justice for foster and at-risk children. The two rooms set for renovation include a Calm Down Room, designed to give foster youth, DCS case workers and group home staff a dedicated space to decompress and recharge, and a Dignity Room, a transformative space for teenage girls in the foster care system that will feature dressing areas and resources focused on confidence, identity, and personal development.

“The Arizona Builders Alliance is transforming spaces that will directly change the lives of youth in our care,” said Gary Webb, President and Founder of OCJ Kids. “Foster children deserve environments that reflect their worth and dignity. These renovations will allow us to expand our programs and serve more kids who need us most. We are deeply grateful for the ABA’s commitment and the generosity of their members.”

The LDF is one of the ABA’s flagship professional development programs, designed to sharpen the leadership skills of mid-to-senior-level construction professionals through hands-on learning, peer mentorship, and real-world community impact. Each year, the LDF class selects a local nonprofit and leads the coordination of free construction and renovation services as part of its curriculum, giving participants the opportunity to put their leadership skills to work beyond the jobsite and reflecting the association’s longstanding dedication to social responsibility.

This year’s project will involve multiple trades, including demolition, electrical work, and finish work contributed by ABA member companies. ABA members have already stepped up with donated materials, skilled labor, and volunteer hours, and the association is calling on the community to help push this project further.

The ABA is actively seeking donations of materials, labor, and financial contributions to support this project. Donations and sponsorship opportunities are available now. The project is expected to be complete by Fall 2026, with the potential to expand renovations to additional areas of the facility. Visit azbuilders.org to learn more.
