Northern Virginia Food Rescue stands among the grant recipients selected by The Rosendin Foundation for their technology-driven approach to combating food insecurity. The organization operates a sophisticated logistics network that coordinates volunteers, local farms, restaurants, and grocers to recover and redistribute surplus food across Northern Virginia

“We are deeply grateful to The Rosendin Foundation for their generous $15,000 grant. This support allows us to rescue and distribute thousands of pounds of fresh, nutritious food to families in Northern Virginia who are facing food insecurity,” said Northern Virginia Food Rescue representative. “NOVA-FR operates a technology-driven logistics network that coordinates volunteers, local farms, restaurants, and grocers to recover and redistribute surplus food across Northern Virginia. To date, we have rescued over 36 million pounds of food, prevented food waste, all while nourishing thousands of families weekly.”

Two organizations received the largest grants of $20,000 each, including A Farm Less Ordinary, which provides therapeutic farming programs and workforce development for individuals with disabilities, and Cornerstones Inc., which serves low-income families throughout Northern Virginia with housing assistance, food programs, and financial stability services.

Five organizations received grants of $15,000 each to expand their community impact. Just Neighbors provides legal services to immigrants and refugees. Loudoun Hunger Relief and Northern Virginia Food Rescue address food insecurity through distribution and rescue programs. NOVA ScriptsCentral helps residents access prescription medications. Our Minds Matter focuses on mental health support for teens and young adults.

Six nonprofits received $10,000 grants: Cancer Support Community, Girls on the Run of NOVA, Hopecam, Second Story, and Wendt Center for Loss and Healing. Six organizations each received $5,000 grants: A Place To Be, Food For Neighbors, La Cocina VA Kitchen of Purpose, Senior Services of Alexandria Inc., The Loudoun Education Foundation, and Youthcast Media Group.
